Edward Kreider, MD PhD
Dr. Edward (Ted) Kreider, MD, PhD received his BA in Biochemistry and MS in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2010, he matriculated into the Medical Scientist Training Program at the Perelman School of Medicine. He completed his thesis work in the laboratory of Dr. Beatrice Hahn studying novel pathways of HIV immune evasion from host B and T cell responses. After completing his medical training in 2018, he matched into the Penn Internal Medicine residency as a member of the Physician Scientist Pathway (PSP) and ultimately fast-tracked into the Penn Infectious Diseases Fellowship. Since July 2021, Ted has been applying mRNA gene therapy to HIV cure efforts as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Drew Weissman. While appointed as a Penn Measey Scholar in Molecular Medicine, Ted aims to design novel mRNA-based approaches to reactivate and clear the latent HIV reservoir.
