Rahul Bhansali, MD

Dr. Rahul Bhansali, MD received his BA in Biology and Spanish from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012 and then matriculated at the University of Illinois College of Medicine for medical school. As a medical student and HHMI Medical Research Fellow, he worked in the laboratory of Dr. John Crispino at Northwestern University, studying the contribution of the chromosome 21 genes to normal hematopoiesis and Down syndrome-associated leukemias. After completing his medical training in 2019, he joined the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Internal Medicine residency program as part of the Physician Scientist Pathway and continued there for his Hematology/Oncology fellowship in 2021. Rahul focuses on hematologic malignancies and joined the laboratory of Dr. Gerd Blobel as a post-doc in 2022, studying chromatin architecture in T-cell leukemias. Rahul aims to uncover fundamental mechanisms of transcriptional miswiring in cancer and its role in therapeutic resistance.
